Festival is fitting tribute - Storey

NORTH Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey has described the Bridges Of Hope Festival at the weekend in Stranocum as a fitting tribute, marking the first Anniversary of the tragic death of young James Elliott.

Commenting after attending Saturdays event Mervyn Storey said: “Yet again we saw a community shine through, despite all the painful memories and the challenges presented in recalling the events of a year ago when James so tragically lost his life.

“The Elliott family, The Bush Unit of the Community Rescue Service, Stranocum District Development Group and the local community all united in what can only be described as a fitting tribute to James.

“It was undoubtedly a moving experience for all involved, yet the weekend events are yet further proof of a community coming together to help and support the family in dealing with very difficult circumstances. The unveiling of the Command Support Unit for the Community Rescue Service is a very tangible evidence of the kind hearted support of many form the local community and beyond who were touched by this tragic event.

“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family.”
