Few kids’needsadvisors in NW

THERE are fewer advisors to assess children who may have special needs in the Western Education and Library Board (WELB) than anywhere else in Northern Ireland.

There are about eight (7.79) full-time equivalent board officers directly involved in the statutory assessment and statementing in WELB compared with BELB (12); NEELB (12.89); SEELB (11.9) and SELB (14).

Education Minister John O’Dowd provided details for the number of full-time equivalent board officers directly involved in the statutory assessment and statementing

process, excluding educational psychologists, in response to an Assembly Question.
