Fewer speed ramps tops Greenisland ‘improvements’ poll

Reducing the number of speed ramps is the most popular suggestion for improvements in the Greenisland area, a survey has revealed.

The suggestions were included in a ‘churches survey’, itself part of a wider consultation on the masterplan for the village.

With a total of 36 members from Greenisland churches taking part, respondents were asked in an open-ended manner about what opportunities there are to improve the area.

The most common suggestion was reduced speed ramps along Station Road and in the estate (56 percent), followed by the provision of a cental meeting point or hub (44 percent) and more cross-community activities (22 percent).

A key focus of the Greenisland Masterplan, meanwhile, is to provide a community hub at Glassillan Green within the next five years.
