Fight to save training college at Desertcreat not over - Molloy

Mid Ulster MP Francie Molloy has said that the campaign to locate the new Community Safety College at Desertcreat is not over yet.

Sinn Féin, he said, are insisting the Executive honour its Programme for Government commitment.

“This project has been on the discussion and drawing table for too long. It is time the Justice Minister, David Ford followed through on the commitment made by all of the Executive in the Programme for Government,” said the MP.

“I understand that Minister Ford has been advised in very clear terms that Desertcreat is still and will remain the preferred option for the new college.”

“I have strongly supported the project and supported Cookstown Council and local businesses in their lobby to bring the College to Cookstown.

“I give my continued commitment and support to this project and believe that we now need to see action to move it forward.”
