Filled her trolley and walked out without paying

Magdalana Rozworski (39), of Saintfield Road, Belfast, filled her trolley with a variety of goods worth £247 and walked out of the Sprucefield store without paying on September 5.

The court was told that she was spotted on CCTV and stopped by security staff in a vehicle driven by her husband, who knew nothing of her actions.

It was added that the defendant immediately admitted it was her on the CCTV.

A member of the prosecution explained to the court that the goods were returned and fit for re-sale.

A defending solicitor told Lisburn Magistrate’s Court that the offence was ‘inexplicable’.

Defence said: “She has been living in the juristiction for the past ten years.

“She has suffered quite a measure of embarrassment.

“It was quite an unpleasant scene when her husband became aware of what had happened.”

“This is a lady who had the money to pay for these items, she had £500 on her,” defence added.

District Judge Peter King said that he gave the defendant credit for her “completely clear record” and for entering a plea of guilty at the earliest opportunity.

Judge King said it was deeply regretful that the defendant found herself in that situation. He imposed a fined of £250 for the offence and Rozworski was ordered to pay the £15 offender’s levy.
