Final CAI GCSE students make their mark

In the final year of Coleraine Inst, the School are once again delighted by the excellent results achieved in the GCSE examinations this year by the boys in Year 12.

The number of top grades achieved has maintained the improvement of recent years with the overall number of pupils achieving 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C remaining at a high level.

A number of Departments achieved 100% A-C grades, including English Literature, Design and Technology, Music, Performing Arts, Physics, Religious Studies (full course), Single Award Science and Spanish.

Mathematics, Information Technology, English Literature, Physics, Biology, Geography and Chemistry led the way in terms of the total number of A* and A grades.

Principal, Dr David Carruthers: “These results represent excellent achievement for individual pupils and give the boys every opportunity for success in the future. I would like to congratulate the pupils on the success they have achieved this year.

“I would also like to join with the pupils in thanking and congratulating the teachers for the hard work and dedication they have shown to the pupils of CAI as we look forward to continued success in the coming year for all pupils of Coleraine Grammar School.”

Highlighting the achievments of pupils, the Principal added: “Gregg Kelly achieved 9A*s and 1A, Robbie Bellingham 3A*s, 8As and 1B, George Clarke 8A*s and 2As, Sam Clarke 7A*s, 2As and 1B, Jacob McQuillan 7A*s, 2As and 1B, Max-Rhys McNeill 5A*s, 3As and 2Bs, Mason McLaughlin 2A*s, 6As, 2Bs and 1C, Adam Cunning 3A*s, 5As and 2Bs, Thomas Lavery 5A*s, 3As and 1B, Jamie Mitchell 4A*s, 4As and 1B, Ben Turner 2A*s, 6As and 2Bs, William McNeill 3A*s, 4As, 2Bs and 1C, Scott Torrens 3A*s, 3As and 4Bs, Matthew Clyde 2A*s, 6As and 3Bs, Zach Hutchinson 2A*s, 6As and 1B and Andrew McClean 2A*s, 6As and 1B. A number of these pupils also achieved an A* or an A in short course ICT and/or RE.”
