Final call for Best Kept Awards

INDIVIDUAL health and social care facilities are reminded that they have less than two weeks to register their entry for the 2014 Best Kept Awards, run by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council.

The deadline is 23rd May and entries are welcomed in three categories; Best Kept Daycare Facility, Best Kept Residential Facility and Best Kept Healthcare Facility.

A winner and runner up will be appointed in each category for each of the five health trust areas.

The judges are looking specifically for evidence of environmental enhancement such as flowerbeds, hanging baskets and tubs as well as an absence of litter and general tidiness and cleanliness of the facility.

Doreen Muskett MBE, Chair of the Amenity Council said: “The healthcare sector in particular should be encouraged to maintain a clean, tidy and cheerful environment and as such, I would like to invite as many health and social care facilities as possible to enter the competition.

“Those who take pride in their surroundings and actively attempt to improve and enhance their immediate environment should be recognised and congratulated.

“Last year we received entries from some beautifully kept facilities and I am most looking forward to seeing the progress they have made over the past 12 months. I would hope to see some entirely new entries joining the Best Kept ranks too,” added Ms Muskett.

Entry forms can be found at www.niacbestkept.com or by ringing the competition organisers, the Northern Ireland Amenity Council, on 028 9040 3681.

Winners will be awarded attractive signage, trophies and a monetary gift. Runners up will be awarded a framed certificate and a monetary gift.
