Final call for popular bog snorkelling competition

The competition is heating up for the 2013 Northern Ireland Bog Snorkelling Championship this Sunday, July 28, at Peatlands Park.

Organised annually by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) to raise awareness of the need to protect and conserve bog lands as part of International Bog Day, this unique, fun sport involves completing two consecutive lengths of a 60-yard (55m) bog drain, in the shortest time possible.

It is at Peatlands Park, near Dungannon with the women’s title one of the most eagerly contested. The Bog Day event starts at 11am with Bog Snorkelling at noon until 5pm.
