Finances are outlined at corporate workshop

Councillors from the recently-elected Antrim and Newtownabbey District Council have met for the second in a series of corporate workshops designed to help plan for challenges ahead.

Members heard how the two councils have been working closely in recent years to bring the rates in the areas into line. This work will help when it comes to setting the rates for the new authority in February 2015.

Officers presented an overall financial picture of the two councils; combined net fixed assets are £143.7 million and total borrowings are £62.7 million at March 31 2014.
