Find a spare car part at the click of a button

A LOCAL man has turned his passion into a successful online service for car enthusiasts.

Michael McClenaghan, who lives in Dunmurry, has always had a passion for cars and three months ago he decided to try something completely different - setting up a website that would help people to source car parts locally.

Now, instead of having to visit breakers yards in the hope of finding a spare part, you can log onto www.partfinder-ni.co.uk and at the click of a button find just what you need.

Michael, who is also studying for a degree in psychology, takes the leg work out of searching for spare parts. He visits breakers, takes photos of what they have available and uploads hundreds of photos to his website, along with contact details of the breakers yard.

"Two years ago I was involved with Lisburn Cruise and I tried starting a forum to buy and sell parts but it didn't really take off," explained Michael.

"Then at the start of the year my girlfriend was looking for a fan for her 206 and I phoned round a lot of breakers before I got one. I thought again about a site to find parts and this time I got the software and set it all up.

"It has been extremely popular and the feedback I have been getting has been amazing. The potential is there for it to become a business but I don't take any commission and I haven't made a penny from it yet, I do it because I find it interesting."
