Fine and points for driver

A MACOSQUIN man has been fined and given penalty points for using his mobile phone while driving.

James McAfee (50) of Farranseer Park, was detected by police at Cloyfin Road on May 15.

When cautioned the defendant replied: “I do know the harm they cause, I know I shouldn’t have been using the phone.”

McAfee’s solicitor said that his client had been in slow moving traffic and whilst he was on the phone he moved only a short distance.

He was unable to take up the fixed penalty notice at the time as he had lost part of his driving licence.

District Judge, Richard Wilson, fined McAfee 60 and gave him three penalty points.
