Fine for man who drove through level crossing

A CASTLEROCK man has been fined £75 for driving through a level crossing after the warning lights had been activated.

Patrick Derrick (63) of Beachview appeared at North Antrim Magistrates' Court on Friday following an incident at the level crossing in Sea Road, Castlerock on May 19 this year.

The court heard that Mr Derrick drove through the crossing at approximately 7.15am after the the sequence had started.

The defendant told the court that he was sorry for what he had done and that he didn't react in time to the lights coming on.

District Judge Paul Copeland also ordered Mr Derrick to pay 89 court costs.
