Fined for drugs offence

A LURGAN man was fined £200 last Thursday at Craigavon court for possession of cannabis on July 7 last year.

He was 19-year-old Daire Martin, of Downshire Avenue, Lurgan, and he admitted the offence through solicitor, Mr Peter Murphy.

The court heard a mobile patrol in Monbrief stopped the defendant and searched him and his vehicle.

A small pipe was found and residue in it contained traces of cannabis.

Mr Murphy said his client accepted it was a small grinder he used to grind cannabis.

He added that Martin has had counselling sessions since he was caught and now is not involved with drugs.
