Fined for insurance offence

Robert McCaigue (55), Union Street, Lurgan, also received six points.

The court heard he was seen driving on Russell Drive, Lurgan, and a police check revealed there was no insurance in place for the vehicle.

A payment had not been made and the policy cancelled. The insurance company said the defendant would have been notified by post.

McCaigue told police the money was paid from the account of his estranged wife and it must have been cancelled. She had not been passing on his post to him.

The defendant told the court that he honestly did not know it had been cancelled.
