Fined for using a mobile phone while driving

A Dromore man was fined £75 last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court for using a mobile phone while driving on October 13 last year.

Bruce Robert McCandless (27), Lisnaree Road, Dromore, also received three penalty points.

For not having a vehicle test certificate he was fined £75 and he was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard he was seen using a mobile phone while driving into Tescos on the Castlewellan Road in Banbridge.

He was subsequently stopped by police who discovered his test certificate had expired one month previously.

His solicitor said he was getting work done on his vehicle and it passed the test a short time afterwards.
