Fined man thought he was covered

A 25-year-old Banbridge man has been fined £300 and awarded six penalty points for driving with no insurance.

Brent Edward Henry Bryson from Tullymore Road, appeared before the local Magistrates Court last Thursday.

He was detected driving a Peugeot 406 car on 21 May at 11.30pm at a police vehicle check point on the Gilford Road, Banbridge.

When cautioned for no insurance Bryson said he thought he was covered.

A solicitor explained that Bryson was undertaking some work for his father when stopped.

He said his client had spent some time in New Zealand and had been removed from the insurance policy - something that was unknown by him.
