The court heard that police checks revealed the defendant was not insured and she admitted she did not have cover.

It was said the defendant at first said that she had a driving licence, but two hours later she attended at a police station and said she did not have one.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that on the day in question she had received a call that her father was not feeling well. He added that the medical advice was that if he took any turn he was to receive hospital treatment immediately.

In the circumstances, the defendant took a chance and drove her husband’s car, the court was told.
