McNally was fined £100 and given six points for permitting Lyness to drive without having insurance.

The court heard that police stopped a car being driven by Lyness on the Tandragee Road in Lurgan at 9.45pm. He told police he was an ‘L’ driver and he was not insured.

McNally was a front seat passenger and she was insured to drive the car.

Both defendants appeared in court and pleaded guilty themselves.

District Judge, Mr Peter King, said there was no suggestion they were wilfully ignoring the law.
