Finvoy YFC Peace III Day

In June, Finvoy Young Farmers Club (YFC) organised a fun filled day for four different Primary Schools in Ballymoney to take part in a shared team building day and cross community workshop to explore more about the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster.

Finvoy Young Farmers Club is currently participating in the North East PEACE III - Community Integration Project, which is supported through the European Union PEACE III Programme. The over all aim of this Project is to increase the confidence, capacity, knowledge and skills of local people and to help create new relationships and explore diversity.

Finvoy is keen to promote diversity and all cultures and become more inclusive towards every community within the wider area so they held a shared learning experience involving Primary 7 pupils from Carrowreagh Primary School, Rasharkin Primary School, St. Patricks Primary School, Rasharkin and St. Josephs Primary in Dunloy.

The children met in Rasharkin Community Centre and took part in a range of exciting activities to get to know each other. The workshop was facilitated by BEAM Creative Network with the help of YFC members which also enabled committee members to gain new skills. Martin Blair, YFCU President also met the children to talk about Finvoy YFC and all the things they could do in this unique Rural Youth organisation. The young people then received a leaflet pens and key rings.

Finvoy YFC would like to thank pupils, parents, teachers and Principals of the four schools for getting involved in this multi cultural workshop, as well as Ballymoney Community Resource Centre for supporting the project. We also are very thankful to PEACE III for making this all possible.

In addition later this summer, Finvoy YFC will organise a two-part exchange programme that will link with members of the GAA Club in Rasharkin to learn more about each other’s interests and traditions and develop new relationships.

Finvoy YFC is open to all young people aged 12-25. For more information ring 07729 613 501 or look us up on Facebook.”
