Fire and Rescue Service join the council’s community planning conversation

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has organised a series of community engagement sessions taking place across the Council area, to give local communities the opportunity to shape the Community Plan for public services in the new Council area.

The sessions were attended by members of the new Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, partner agencies and local residents and with further meetings set to take place across the council area this will provide further engagement opportunities for discussion as to how public services work for the local community.

NIFRS Group Commander Aidan Jennings said: “The Community Planning conversation session was extremely worthwhile and gave the local community of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council an opportunity to advise how public services will benefit the people of Lisburn & Castlereagh.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, along with partner agencies are eager to engage with local people to help inform these plans. T

“These engagement events are the start of a process aimed at helping public service providers and other agencies to work together with the community.

“The Community Conversation sessions offer the opportunity to plan and deliver better services which will ultimately make a real difference to people’s lives.”

The final local community planning session will be held in Maghaberry Community Centre on August 20 from 7.00pm - 9.00pm.

Members of the public are being encouraged to go along to the meeting and join in the conversation which will help to shape the future of the local community.
