Fire at Doury Road being treated as deliberate

A fire at two two-storey derelict properties at the Doury Road estate in the early hours of Wednesday morning is being treated as deliberate.

Four fire appliances were tasked to the scene at Victoria Park after Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 1.37am to a report of a fire at derelict residential premises.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire appliances from Ballymena Fire Station, one Fire Appliance from Antrim Fire Station and one Fire Appliance from Springfield Fire Station were deployed to the scene. Firefighters using hosereel jets and a Vema jet appliance dealt with two two-storey derelict properties well alight in the area.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 3.55am and the fire is being treated as deliberate,” the spokesperson said.
