Fire Risk Assessment course success

BALLYMONEY Borough Council's Building Control Officer has successfully passed an Fire Risk Assessment course.

During a recent Health and Environmental Services Committee meeting, members agreed that a letter of congratulations be forwarded to the Building Control Officer recognising his success.

The report explained: “In November 2009, Building Control Officer (Post Ref 50097) participated in a 3 day Fire Risk Assessment Course, under the Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001. The course was organized by the Building Control Fire Safety Panel and held at the Northern Ireland Fire Brigade and Rescue Service Headquarters, Boucher Road, Belfast.

“The course, which is approved by the Institute of Fire Engineers, culminated with an examination on the final day. I am pleased to report that the officer achieved the required proficiency level, and has been awarded with a Certificate of Competency in Fire Risk Assessment.

“The skills and knowledge gained will be highly beneficial to Council, both within the Building Control Service and within the Borough Services Directorate.

“It is recommended that a letter of congratulations be forwarded to the Building Control Officer recognising his success.”

It was proposed by Alderman Harry Connolly and seconded by Cllr Audrey Patterson.
