Firearms, cash and jewellery stolen in Larne burglaries

Police are appealing for information after firearms, cash and jewellery with a sentimental value were stolen during two burglaries yesterday (Thursday July 7).

The incidents occurred in the Ballyvallagh Road and Ballylesson Road areas of the town.

During the incident in the Ballylesson Road area, which occurred between 1.50pm and 6pm, a number of firearms, ammunition and a sum of cash were stolen.

Meanwhile, a quantity of jewellery, including items with a sentimental value, was stolen from the Ballyvallagh Road area between 9.15am and 2.30pm.

Detective Constable Skillen said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry in relation to these burglaries, including the possibility they may be linked.

“I would ask anyone with any information about these incidents to contact detectives at Larne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Police also issued a social media warning to local people to remain vigilant whilst away on their summer holidays.

“Whilst your away the would be burglar loves to strike,” they warned.

“Remember to lock all doors and windows, turn on your burglar alarm and even ask a neighbour to keep an eye on your home.

“Report any suspicious activity to police.”
