Firefighters rescue man stuck in mud on Carnmoney Hill

Firefighters from Glengormley and Belfast were called to Carnmoney Hill on Tuesday morning (February 23) to rescue a man who'd become trapped in thick mud.

It’s understood the man was taking photographs in the area when he got into difficulty.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “NIFRS received a call at 7:59am to a report of a man trapped in the Carnmoney Hill area of Glengormley.

“One Fire Appliance from Glengormley Fire Station and one Fire Appliance from Central Fire Station were deployed to the scene of a man trapped in thick mud in the area.

“Firefighters rescued the man using a long tailed shovel and assisted him from the area. There were no reports of any injuries.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 9:01am.”
