firmus energy host information session in Ballymoney

firmus energy recently hosted an information session for local councillors and MLAs in Ballymoney to brief them on the progress of the natural gas network in the area as well as unveil exciting plans for its future development.

Michael Scott, general manager for firmus energy explained, “Since we connected our first customer in December 2005, we have laid more than 730km of pipes in our network area. We are currently investing more than £10 million per year in our pipework alone and a further £5 million in services which has allowed us to connect more than 14,000 customers to date. We also compete in the greater Belfast area where we have 25,000 customers.

“We have a team of more than 90 full-time employees based in Antrim and have ambitious plans to expand our network even further as demand continues to grow. We are currently in a consultation process which could see us heading for Bushmills.”

In Ballymoney firmus energy has laid more than 18 km of mains and connected more than 545 customers in the area including the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Tesco and the Robinson Centre.
