First Festival of Remembrance held in Lisburn

The Lisburn Branch of the Royal British Legion held the first Festival of Remembrance in the Island Hall on Friday November 6.

Dignitaries at the Festival of Remembrance included the Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Joan Christie, Mayor of Lisburn Councillor Thomas Beckett and Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson.

The Festival included a wide variety of entertainment, including performances from NI Military Wives Choir, Fort Hill Integrated Primary School Choir, the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Irish Regiment, young people from the Naomi Orr SChool of Dance, soloist Zoe Jackson, and rousing music from Garvey Silver Band,

The festival also included a service of remembrance, which was led by Rev Nicholas Dark, padre of the Lisburn Branch of the Royal British Legion, with representatives of the Armed Forces and Youth Organisations attending,
