First Minister visits groups in Maghaberry

First Minister and DUP Leader Arlene Foster recently paid a visit to Maghaberry to see the work being done in the local community.

Mrs Foster visited the village at the invitation of DUP Assembly election candidate Paul Givan.

During her tour of the facilities in the village, Mrs Foster visited Maghaberry Primary School, and the local community centre. She also met with members of Maghaberry Community Association, as well as members of the local Orange Lodge.

“Maghaberry is a thriving village and Arlene was very impressed with the local Primary School after meeting the teachers and children,” explained Mr Givan.

“I was able to show her the new War Memorial with members of Maghaberry Lol 86 and then called into the Community Centre to see the new facilities and meet with local people. This was an opportunity to showcase the village and highlight areas for more investment. I know the Community Association, which does excellent work wants to continue developing the village I look forward to working alongside them.”

Speaking after her visit to Maghaberry, Mrs Foster said: “I was delighted to visit Maghaberry with my Assembly Candidate for the area Paul Givan and received a very warm welcome. I know how much work the local community, working with Paul, have put into to developing the village and over the past number of years significant investment has been made at the Community Centre to enhance the facilities.”
