First Minister visits Resurgam

Last month the Chairman of The Resurgam Community Development Trust, Mr Philip Dean was delighted to welcome First Minister and leader of the DUP, Mrs Arlene Foster, back to the Laganview Enterprise Centre for her second visit in only four weeks.

Mrs Foster’s visit came after the Trust receive £1.5 million from the OFMDFM Social Investment Fund to progress capital work in Old Warren, including the development of a new Youth Centre.

On this occasion the First Minister had the opportunity to meet members of the Resurgam Trust Board and senior members of staff.

She also received an update on progress being made in relation to both revenue and capital projects funded through the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) Social Investment Fund.

Trust Director Adrian Bird explained: “The Resurgam Trust is delighted to have secured almost £1.5 million through the OFMDFM Social Investment Fund.

“This money will see the old West Lisburn Community Centre in the Old Warren Estate demolished and a new purpose built Youth Resource Centre built, which will become home for the Resurgam Youth Initiative.

“It will also see an extension to the Laganview Enterprise Centre, which will house a community based health hub, helping to address some of the serious health issues which affect our community.

“In addition to this investment into capital build projects, we have secured a £513,000 contract, which will see Early Intervention Lisburn and partners deliver a number of programmes into primary and post primary schools and family homes across Lisburn.

“The Social Investment Fund is a good example of what can be achieved when central government, politicians and the community work together.

“I believe that the Resurgam Trust has a good working relationship with all political parties but in relation to this investment from the Social Investment Fund I must give credit to the Democratic Unionist Party.

“The DUP has worked extremely hard on behalf of our entire community and we are now witnessing some positive results.”

The Resurgam Trust is based in the Laganview Enterprise Centre in the Old Warren Estate in Lisburn and works with community-based organisations across both Lisburn North and Lisburn South.
