First surfing webcam live in Portrush

Now from the comfort of home, anyone, anywhere in the world can jump online and get free access to live visuals of the waves and the surfing action on the Whiterocks Beach, Portrush.

"The webcam is a very exciting development for local surfing," Martin told Times Sport.

"Stationed high above the beach the camera can be moved around and zoomed in and out to let us provide the viewer with changing surfing conditions up and down this huge area of surf.

"Essentially it is a tool for travelling surfers from all over Northern Ireland and the South. By checking the webcam they can now see first hand exactly what the waves are doing, saving them time and money on a potentially wasted journey. This is a case of know before you go."

The webcam allows one of the busiest and most popular surfing beaches (Whiterocks ) to be streamed into homes so the conditions can be viewed at any time.

The high resolution nature of the equipment will allow the camera to be adjusted to and fixed onto different points between Portrush and Portbalintrae.

"We move the camera view throughout the day so make sure you check back for a fresh angle on the coast," added Martin.

"Even if you're not a surfer you can log on in the evenings to take in a view over the north west coast of Donegal to watch the setting sun."

With an invitation to surf in a Big Wave Contest in Corsica in November and the final leg of the IBA World Professional Bodyboard Tour in Gran Canaria in December, Martin admits it is great to be competing abroad too.
