Firstsource staff raise cash for nursery schools

BIG-hearted staff at Firstsource's Northland Road centre have put smiles on the faces of children at five local nursery schools after a fundraising drive.

Firstsource staff have raised more than 1,000 to help buy new equipment for the nursery schools across the city.

And Firstsource more than matched the effort pound-for-pound which meant each of the five schools were given a 480 windfall - a total of 2,400. List the schools that have received donations and give examples of the equipment that will be bought by the donations.

Firstsource's General Manager in Londonderry, Sean Harnett said: "Once again the staff at Firstsource have been magnificent in their fundraising efforts.

"They raised the money through a series of 'dress down days' which enabled our staff to dress more casually. They paid a donation to our fund raising campaign for the local nursery schools.

"The effort was so successful Firstsource has added 1,400 to the staff efforts so that five local nursery schools will receive 480 each which they can use towards buying much-needed equipment."

Mr Harnett added: "Firstsource is at the heart of the community in the North West and this is another small way for us to help local communities and help local children. In the last year alone, our staff in Derry have donated over 6,500 to a variety of charities – both local and global. As a company, Firstsource has raised more than 18,000 for charitable causes in the UK since we opened in Northern Ireland in 2006. More charity events are planned throughout the year and we will be helping a number of worthwhile causes during 2010."

The principal of Rosemount Primary and Nursery School Brendan Grant said: "We have 52 Nursery children here the money is helping to buy dress-up aprons and a trio trike for them. We can't thank Firstsource enough."

Carol Bratton, from Lisnagelvin Nursery School, said: "We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Firstsource staff and the company for their support. We can now purchase a bicycle storage shed for the school. It makes such a difference for us here."
