Fit Families was an initiative which aimed to bring the school community together to engage in fun activities to promote the importance of healthy lifestyles.

It was a roaring success with over fifty parents and pupils attending the events each Thursday night for four weeks.

Each of the nights allowed the fit families to experience many different activities including circuits, aerobics, dance fitness, archery, curling, boccia and lots of other fun games and challenges.

The initiative was organised by Eugene Mullan, a teacher from St Brigid’s. “

“It was wonderful to see so many of our families coming to support this initiative and getting fully involved,” he said.

The Mums and Dads enjoyed the activities every bit as much as the boys and girls and it was clear to see the strength and positivity of our wider school

community,” commented Mr Mullan.

To end the initiative on a very impressive note the boys, girls, mums, dads, grandparents and teachers took on the challenge of a twelve hour non-stop Spin Cycle Challenge.

It ran from 8am until 8pm and the two bikes did not stop once for the duration of the day!

There were some tired legs by the end of the challenge. The success of the challenge once again proved the great sense of togetherness and pride that this whole school community has for St Brigid’s.

The challenge also helped to raise some vital funds to put towards some new resources for the school.
