Fitzpatrick calls for upgrade of Glenmanus pitch

ALLIANCE party Westminster candidate Barney Fitzpatrick is calling on Coleraine Council to upgrade the old football pitch at Glenmanus in Portrush.

The football pitch which is on the main road into the town and is used by young people from both sides of the Coleraine Road has fallen into disrepair and was badly flooded during the recent storms.

Now Cllr Fitzpatrick is calling on Council to repair the area to turn it into a safe kick-about area for the local young people.

“At the moment the pitch is just an area of bumpy ground that is more like an assault course than a football pitch,” he said.

“The goal posts had to be moved because the state of the ground was so bad.

“There is a very good tenants’ association down there in Glenmanus and I would call on Coleraine Council to help them by looking at the possibility of improving the pitch so that all the children from the surrounding areas can use it.

“All the children play together there and we need to make it more presentable.”
