Building on last week’s success against Portadown, Lurgan’s Mid-Ulster team were never troubled by visitors, Richhill, during winning massively by 34 shots and collecting five league points.

Skipping on Rink 1, Rodney McCarthy with Tom Connolly, Eileen Robson and Simon Collins led 13-3 after 10 ends and 15-7 after 14 ends. P Nellins’ rink had no answer to the home onslaught who claimed another 12 shots off the last 4 ends including a brilliant 6-shot win on the last end – a superb evening’s work.

Will McCullough, skipping on Rink 2 and supported well by Melvyn Hamilton, Michael Steen and Chloe Wilson, were resisted by J Albin’s rink during the early stages who were a shot ahead after 10 ends but 5-shot win by the home on the next end took McCullough’s rink into a 4-shot lead.

The home rink ceased the opportunity to maintain their lead by winning the most of the remaining ends to win well by 20-14.

John Gilliland, also successful on Rink 3 with Peter Dew, Robert Colhoun and Albert Houston, raced into a lead of 7-0 after five ends and while D Evans’ rink responded well the home rink still lead 11-6 at the halfway stage.

The second half was claimed by Gilliland’s rink who won all but two ends to overcome by a 10-shot margin: 19-9 to enable Lurgan to have full points.
