Flag raised at Mill to mark Commonwealth Day
The event, which saw the flag of the Commonwealth of Nations raised outside the borough’s civic headquarters, was attended by the Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie, OBE.
Although Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration held on the second Monday in March every year, this year was the first time that local authorities and civic dignitaries, community groups and charities throughout the British Isles took part in local flag raising events and ceremonies of dedication.

The Commonwealth Affirmation was delivered by the Mayor before the Commonwealth flag was raised at 10am.
The local ceremony was one of around 500 such events which took place throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
