“The scheme cost council £16,993 and it is envisaged that the work will start towards the end of August.

“The lighting is for the MUGA facility not the play area, and 10 of council’s existing MUGA facilities have flood lighting.”

The play area is at Winona Lodge in the village with the new floodlights to be erected around the play ball area.

A recent council committee meeting heard: “There were four floodlight columns proposed (8 metres in height) with three lighting units on each which would replace the two existing floodlight columns (10 metres high) each with two floodlights.

The lights should only be turned on between 8am and 10pm.

There was one objection to the application.

Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council has recently launched a review of all of its sporting facilities.
