Florist objects to shop plan

A DRUMHOE florist has objected to a proposal to convert a domestic garage into a shop.

Planners have received an objection to the proposal to change the use of the garage adjacent to 5 Robin’s Row Drumahoe to a class A1 retail on the ground floor only with the domestic storage area retained above.

Heather Hamilton, Floral Art Florist, Drumahoe Shopping Complex, wrote to the planning office in July stating: “I am the onwer of an established flower shop of over three years here in Drumahoe.

“It is my understanding that the intention is to open a class A shop, physically three to four metres from my premises.

“Given that in the past planning permission was sought to open a flower shop at the same premises, if this was to happen it would conflict with my business so therefore I strongly object to this application.”

Consultations have been issued to the neighbours.

In a separate development in Drumahoe Roads Service has applied for permission to extend its existing temporary park and ride site at the YMCA.

Planners have received an application for the extension of the current site at the YMCA Playing Fields at Drumahoe.
