Fly tipping is 'anti-social'

POLICE are urging residents in the borough to help them in preventing fly tipping of material on ground in the Lismurphy Avenue area of Coleraine.

While this is not strictly a policing matter, it could be viewed as anti-social behaviour and Neighbourhood Constable Robert Rainey is therefore eager to see the practice stop.

He said: "Several householders have contacted me about this problem, and like them, I am eager to identify those who have been illegally dumping material on this piece of ground as it is becoming an eyesore.

"There is no excuse for fly tipping, and it is unfair to those who live nearby.

“There are adequate facilities across the Borough for the disposal and recycling of all manner of materials.

“Using this land as a dump is not acceptable and I would urge householders to help prevent further tipping by noting down the description of people stopping to off load waste and the registration number of any vehicles used."

Anyone who can help to identify those engaged in fly-tipping is asked to contact the police at Coleraine.
