The ‘Task and Finish Working Groups’ co-ordinated by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council was designed to identify the priorities for inclusion within the ‘community plan’ for the Borough.

Senior officers from the council and other public, private and voluntary sectors organisations together with community representatives met at The Braid in Ballymena and considered a wide range of evidence gathered to date in order to agree on key Borough-wide priorities and needs.

A further event is to be held, at Ballymena Showgrounds, on September 28 and with a range of other engagements will continue to work towards a final community plan, that is due to be completed by March 31 2017.

The plan will focus on the development and implementation of a ‘shared vision for promoting the well-being of the entire Mid & East Antrim area’.

According to a Council spokesperson it will also enable community cohesion with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens.

Other main themes will centre on issues relating to ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’; ‘Progress in education – improving aspirations for all’; and sustainable jobs & tourism.
