Former commander of Space Station promotes Glens tourism

A meeting in the Old School House in Cushendall was attended by members of Glenariff Improvement Group, Cushendall Development Group and Cushendun District Development Association, as well as representatives of both The RNLI and The Fire Brigade.

The meeting was addressed by Sharon Bateson, Moyle District Council Head Of Environmental Health, who detailed the work that a community resilience team could do alongside the emergency services and statutory agencies in the event of a crisis locally.

“We have lots of organisations, clubs and individuals in The Glens with particular skills that would be useful both during and after an emergency situation,” said Cllr Thompson.

“I would also like to thank both Cushendall and Cushendun Parish Committees who have agreed, subject to insurance confirmation, that Cushendall Parish Centre and Cushendun Parish Hall can be designated as emergency hubs.”
