Former locals back from Canada

TWO locals who left Northern Ireland for a new life in Canada have returned for a holiday.

Carol Kirkpatrick is originally from Cloughmills, but she and her husband, Hugh, who is from Coleraine, left these shores to settle in Winnipeg.

Their son, Bryan, married a Canadian lassie, Erica Reimer who is enjoying her time in the Province.

Carol met up with her brother, Robert, and sisters, Marlene, Linda, Heather, Jackie and Christine at the unfurling of a new banner for Lavin Lodge.

Despite the rain, the family enjoyed the occasion, particularly as two are members of the flute band.

Carol will be staying slightly longer than other members of her family who will be heading back to Canada soon. She plans to be around for the Twelfth of July celebrations in Ballycastle.
