Former Mayor raises £11,000 for chosen charities

REPRESENTATIVES from NI Hospice, Make-A-Wish and Mindwise gathered at Mossley Mill this week as outgoing Mayor John Scott presented them with over £11,000 from money raised throughout his year as Mayor.

The money, which was split between the three charities, was raised at various events, including civic receptions, Christmas events and the recent Mayor's Charity Fashion Show, sponsored by Canyon Europe.

Presenting the cheques the former Mayor said: "It is my pleasure to present my chosen charities with this money. Each charity is very close to my heart and I know the funds will be put to good use.

"I would like to thank all the volunteers from the charities who assisted with the fundraising events and also the Christmas collections, which were a huge success. I had great support during the year from the local business community and I thank them also."
