Foster families needed as campaign is launched

ACTION for Children Northern Ireland foster care worker, Gail Edgeworth, had helped launch the charity's campaign to find five new foster carers across the province.

‘Do You Care?’ aims to encourage everyone to consider whether they could make room in their family for a child or young person in need.

“Our current foster carers are absolutely fantastic and do an incredible job looking after some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our society,” said Gail. “However, there is a pressing need for at least five new foster carers to provide a safe and caring home for a child long term.”

She said children and young people need foster care for many different reasons and increasing the pool of providers would boost the charity’s ability to ‘match’ them with the families and carers who are best able to meet their needs.
