Foster officially opens new craft shop

Tourism Minister Arlene Foster today officially opened the Craft Village Collective Shop during a visit to Londonderry.

The craft village is located in the centre of the city and combines 18 different craft makers, a restaurant and a coffee shop.

Tourism Minister said: “The craft industry in Northern Ireland is a diverse, vibrant, growing sector that has the capability of enhancing the visitor experience and moreover in return, create opportunities for our visitors to spend their money on quality craft.

“It’s great to see so much creativity coming to the fore in the form of such an array of indigenous crafts, and even better, to know that it’s all made by our own talented and skilled workforce.

“The Craft Village Collective Shop provides a commercial space for craft-makers right in the heart of the city, and we are already seeing its potential to draw in visitors to the area and in turn boosting the local economy.

“I am particularly impressed and encouraged by the 18 individual craft-makers whose inspiration, commitment and partnership approach has led to the creation of the shop.”
