Mr Moore passed away in St Francis’ Nursing Home, Portadown, just 14 months after his wife Peggy (nee Hodgen).

Born and brought up in Edgarstown, he was the second youngest of nine children and attended school at Montague Street and then Hart Memorial.

He went straight to work from school, with his first job at McDonagh’s furniture company.

After a short time, he moved to Tavanagh weaving factory where he stayed for five or six years before securing a job as a forklift driver with Denny’s in Obins street.

He remained there until he took early retirement around the age of 60.

During his youth, Mr Moore was a keen and talented footballer, playing for Marlborough United Mid-Ulster League team during the 1950s and also for Seapatrick,

He made the most of his retirement, enjoying various outings with his wife, tending the garden at his Westland Road home and playing bowls.

He was a member of St Columba’s bowls team and one of the founder members of the church. His faith meant a lot to him and he and Peggy were active members of the parish.

The couple had one daughter, Sharon Yates, two grandchildren, Jemma and Claire, and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessica.

Mr Moore’s health began to deteriorate after the death of his wife and in April last year, he moved into the Portadown nursing home.

His funeral service was held at St Columba’s Parish Church, with interment in Tullylish Presbyterian Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, brother Alec (88), sister-in-law Dell, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family circle.
