Four convicted of benefit fraud

Four men were convicted of benefit fraud at Craigavon Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday).

Jose Da Silva (52) of Joseph Street, Portadown claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £13,414 while failing to declare employment. He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Paschal Mulholland (22) of Woodside Hill, Portadown claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £286 while failing to declare employment. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Daniel Treanor (24) of Victoria Gardens, Lurgan claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £445 while failing to declare employment. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge.

Gareth Donald (46) of Moeran Park, Portadown claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £4,692 while failing to declare employment. He was given a two year conditional discharge.

All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
