Four guns found in Limavady since April

The PSNI have found four firearms and 20 rounds of ammunition in Limavady since April, ‘Security Situation’ statistics for Northern Ireland show.

Across the wider North West - or ‘G District’ as it is referred to by the PSNI - 16 firearms have been found by police, along with 526 rounds of ammunition. The figures are for the time period April 1 - November 30, 2013.

There have also been five ‘bombing incidents’ In the Foyle policing area and another in Strabane, during that time period. Of the 16 firearms, 11 were found in the Foyle constituency.

In the whole of Northern Ireland, 68 firearms have been found along with 4,417 rounds of ammunition. There have been 23 casualties as a result of paramilitary style assaults and 19 as a result of paramilitary style shootings. There have been a total of 30 shooting incidents in Northern Ireland since April and a further 50 bombing incidents.

In Limavady, there have been no shooting or bombing incidents and no casualties as a result of paramilitary style assaults or shootings in the period April 1 to November 30, 2013.

Across Northern Ireland, over two kilograms of explosives have been recovered.
