Foyle go through in Schools Cup

HOLDERS Foyle and Londonderry College have had the easiest of passages to the quarter finals of this year's Ulster Bank Schools Cricket Cup. They did so without facing a ball when Portadown College conceded their second round tie.

No such luck for the only other remaining North West school, Strabane Grammar School, who went down heavily by 68 runs to Regent House, Newtownards. Chasing a Regent total of 179 for 8, Strabane could manage only 111, despite a fine innings of 63 by D Lynch.

Foyle will now meet Regent in the quarter final, the draw for which is:

Sullivan Upper v Friends’ School; Methodist College v RBAI; Grosvenor GS v RBAI II; Foyle & Londonderry College v Regent House
