It may have been a damp and dismal day, but Saturday, afternoon was filled with sunshine and laughter at the Foyle Parents and Friend’s Association 50th Anniversary Fun Day in St Peter’s Church Hall.

Originally scheduled for the See House Gardens, where the group would have been hosted by the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Bishop Ken Good, the poor weather forced the afternoon party indoors - but what better place to stage an indoor party than St Peter’s Church Hall? Members of the MU pulled out all the stops to ensure that there were plenty of savoury and sweet treats for everyone to enjoy, and the afternoon became a real celebration of what Foyle Parents and Friend’s Association is about - working together in a fun, creative atmosphere that included people of all ages and abilities.

The formal welcome and introductions were performed by Bishop Good and the Association stalwart, George Glenn paid tribute to all those who had worked with the organisation over the years.

By way of entertainment there was a wonderfully silly Punch and Judy show, a magician and conjurer as well as facepainting, and to provide some background music there was a harpist who filled the air with wonderful music.

All in all it was a brilliant way to celebrate 50 years of caring and sharing.
