Mary O’Neill said: “The funding provided by the Western Trust’s Voluntary and Community grant scheme has allowed us to run a ten week Healthy Eating Cookery Course for Carers from the Derry/Londonderry area.

“This has been a fantastic opportunity for participants to learn new cookery skills, giving Carers a break from their caring role and also developing friendships with other Carers.”

The Trust is inviting applications from groups in the local area to apply for funding. Funding is available to support groups to provide social inclusion opportunities to adults with a learning disability while at the same time affording their parents and carers, who are approximately 50 years of age or over, some time away from their caring role.
