Foyle school community granted £685k

THE Foyle Area Learning community - comprising 15 schools - has been granted £685,266 for hte 2013/14 year.

The neighbouring Roe Valley Learning community - comprising five schools - has been granted £331,288.

Education Minister John O’Dowd explained that the monies were allocated to the schools as a contribution to the costs of expanding the curricular offer in the communities.

He stated: “Schools individually, and on an area basis, undertake a review of their curricular offer at 14 plus and 16 plus and set SMART targets to ensure the offer is of high quality, broad and balanced, coherent and sustainable and relevant to the needs of all young people and the economy.

“Based around four strategic priorities set by the department, each ALC submits an annual implementation plan. All Area Leaning Community implementation plans will available to view on www.efaudit.org by the end of February 2013.”
